 Isidore A.
Udoh, Ph.D., J.C.L., is a postdoctoral fellow
who researches the socio-political and
ecological dimensions of HIV transmission in
Nigeria. He is interested in how weak
government systems and business practices of
multinational oil companies create
socio-political and economic inequities, which
influence behavior and fuel the HIV epidemic in
the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Dr. Udoh also
researches how culture and religion shape the
trend and pattern of HIV transmission in
sub-Saharan Africa, especially with regard to
their role in defining status and modeling
gender-specific messages and practices that
leave women and adolescents particularly
vulnerable.
Trained in education, legal studies, theology,
and philosophy, Dr. Udoh has worked in a number
of literacy, faith-based, development, and
public health programs in Nigeria, South
Africa, Canada, and the United States.
