José A. Bauermeister is a postdoctoral fellow at the HIV Center. He received his M.P.H. and Ph.D. in Health Behavior & Health Education from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.

His research interests include understanding how structural inequalities create HIV risk disparities among adolescents and young adults. In addition, Dr. Bauermeister also explores the acceptability of innovative prevention strategies among men who have sex with men.

Dr. Bauermeister is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Youth & Adolescence and serves as referee to various interdisciplinary journals including the American Journal of Public Health, Social Science & Medicine, and Journal of Adolescent Health.
