Milton Wainberg, M.D. is an HIV Center investigator who has worked on numerous studies (funded by NIMH, NIAAA, NIDA and CDC) examining substance abuse, risk for HIV, and adherence to medications. Dr. Wainberg has been particularly focused on designing and implementing national and international randomized controlled trials targeting diverse HIV-positive and at-risk populations who use alcohol or recreational drugs, experience sexual compulsivity, or have severe mental illness. He is currently testing the efficacy of an HIV prevention intervention developed in an international, collaborative, NIMH-funded project.
