Robert M. Kertzner, M.D., former Training Director of the NIMH supported Behavioral Sciences Research in HIV Infection Training Program, is Adjunct Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University and Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCSF. Dr. Kertzner's research includes study of the adult life course and sexual orientation with a focus on midlife development. In addition, Dr. Kertzner has conducted research on the psychosocial impact of the HIV epidemic and the psychoneuroimmunological aspects of HIV infection on seropositive adults.  Most recently, he has conducted research on adult development, sexuality, and psychological well-being, particularly in sexual minority persons. He is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Sex Research, member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Psychotherapy, and Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
