Cheryl Smith, MD, is the founder of Mount Morris Medical, a primary care practice in Harlem, NY. She currently serves on the International AIDS Society Governing Council as a North American representative and the chair of the Governance and Membership Subcommittee. Dr. Smith is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at New York University- Bellevue Hospital. She was the chair of North General Hospital’s Department of HIV/AIDS. She is currently the Associate Medical Director of Clinical Services at New York State Department of Health’s AIDS Institute where she directs the Clinical Education Initiative and Chairs the Social Media Workgroup. Dr. Smith has participated in the development and presentation of several workshops and has published articles on HIV in older adults, HIV disparities in communities of color and HIV/Hepatitis C Co-infection. She has been featured as one of America’s leading physicians by Black Enterprise Magazine and the Network Journal. Dr. Smith life’s work with poor, disenfranchised and medically underserved communities has focused on connecting people to health care systems, mobilizing prevention efforts, and promoting medical education that empowers people.
