José A. Bauermeister, PhD, MPH is the Presidential Associate Professor of Nursing and Director for the HIV Disparities Scientific Working Group - Center for AIDS Research. Dr. Bauermeister’s research focuses on developing and testing comprehensive HIV/STI prevention and care programs for high-risk adolescents and young adults, including young gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (YGBMSM); perinatally HIV-infected and HIV-affected youth; and racial/ethnic minorities living in urban centers. Currently, he is PI of several intervention projects examining the social and behavioral correlates of HIV risk, as measured by sexual behaviors, alcohol and other drug use, and psychological distress.
