Reuben N. Robbins, PhDMember, Clinical Translation CoreEmail: rnr2110@cumc.columbia.eduI am an Associate Professor of Clinical Medical Psychology and a clinical- and neuro-psychologist. I have research and clinical expertise in neurocognition, mental health, and psychosocial functioning in HIV and other diseases and across the lifespan. I study how medical factors (e.g., immune response, and disease severity) and exposure to adversity and social determinants of health affect neurocognition and mental health among vulnerable populations in resource limited settings. Because neurocognitive testing is severely limited and often biased in resource limited settings, including low- and middle-income countries, I created an easy-to-use, highly automated tablet application to assess neuropsychological functioning and screen for neurocognitive impairment (NeuroScreen). I have led both small- and large-scale studies involving multiple measures and biospecimens, and interdisciplinary teams, in several low- and middle-income countries. Over the past 15 years, I have contributed to and completed numerous research projects examining neurocognitive functioning, mental health, sex and drug risk behaviors, and adherence to HIV medical treatment in HIV-infected, -affected and at-risk adolescents and adults, as well as the social determinant effects on these outcomes. Furthermore, I have been at the forefront of developing and testing technology-based clinical tools and interventions for resource-limited and international settings. I have mentored undergraduates, graduate students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral fellows both in the US and internationally.Education and TrainingPhD, Fordham UniversityMA, Naropa University
